Painted Wolf Madach
Regular price £14.99 Save £-14.99/
Painted Wolf Madach 'Hunting' red is a generous cape blend of Pinotage, Carignan, Tempranillo, Durif and Grenache. Bright cherry fruit and vanilla on the nose followed by savoury notes to complement the vibrant fruit on the palate. Rich and complex with silky tannins and a long finish.
Madach is the slang used over the radio and in general conversation by game rangers in South Africa's lowveld, the area in and around the famous Kruger National Park. Painted Wolves are very rare in the Kruger Park, despite years of effort to develop a larger population here.
Jeremy and Emma Borg founded Painted Wolf Wines to create unique wines from a small number of growers in some of South Africa's prime sites, including Paarl, Swartland and Stellenbosch - low-yielding areas which are mostly unirrigated and farmed organically.
They called their company Painted Wolf, after the endangered African Wild Dog. The Painted Wolf 'pack' is their community of talented individuals who bring the best available grapes, technical and practical skills, resulting a range of delicious, authentic and satisfying wines.
Five percent of Painted Wolf's profits from UK sales are donated to Tusk Trust, which not only funds projects to protect wildlife, particularly endangered species, but also helps to alleviate poverty through sustainable development and education amongst rural communities which live alongside wildlife.
