Painted Wolf The Den Rose
Regular price £12.50 Save £-12.50Painted Wolf The Den Rose is a beautifully elegant dry rosé with delicate summer fruit and cranberry flavours. Unusually complex for a rosé with a persistent finish.
The idea behind Painted Wolf The Den Rose is to make the most delicious and compelling dry rosé possible from Pinotage. Pinotage grapes are sourced from a number of blocks of older vines in Paarl. The grapes are hand harvested into small baskets and taken to the cellar where they are destalked, gently crushed, and cooled before being left on skins for roughly 6 hours. Juice is then drawn off the skins and cold fermented in tank.
Jeremy and Emma Borg founded Painted Wolf Wines to create unique wines from a small number of growers in some of South Africa's prime sites, including Paarl, Swartland and Stellenbosch - low-yielding areas which are mostly unirrigated and farmed organically.
They called their company Painted Wolf, after the endangered African Wild Dog. The Painted Wolf 'pack' is their community of talented individuals who bring the best available grapes, technical and practical skills, resulting a range of delicious, authentic and satisfying wines.
Five percent of Painted Wolf's profits from UK sales are donated to Tusk Trust, which not only funds projects to protect wildlife, particularly endangered species, but also helps to alleviate poverty through sustainable development and education amongst rural communities which live alongside wildlife.
