Limited release with unique artwork on each vintage, this wine will age for 10 to 12 years.
Pictus is named after the scientific name for an African Painted Dog, Lycaon Pictus, meaning Wolf in Greek and Painted in Latin. Painted Wolf Pictus is a wine made with meticulous care and blended from some of the best barrels of the vintage.
Jeremy and Emma Borg founded Painted Wolf Wines to create unique wines from a small number of growers in some of South Africa's prime sites, including Paarl, Swartland and Stellenbosch - low-yielding areas which are mostly unirrigated and farmed organically.
They called their company Painted Wolf, after the endangered African Wild Dog. The Painted Wolf 'pack' is their community of talented individuals who bring the best available grapes, technical and practical skills, resulting a range of delicious, authentic and satisfying wines.
A percentage of Painted Wolf's profits from UK sales are donated to Tusk Trust, which not only funds projects to protect wildlife, particularly endangered species, but also helps to alleviate poverty through sustainable development and education amongst rural communities which live alongside wildlife.
