WINE TALK Summer 2024

LATEST NEWS

Welcome,

We have a forthcoming event at Talking Wines. We are delighted that Robin Naylor will be joining us on 27th September to talk us through a tasting of the Wildeberg wine range. Robin has played a key role in establishing this excellent producer in Franschhoek, South Africa. They have a wonderful range of wines and a fascinating story of how the property and vineyards have developed. Tickets are just £10 and can be purchased in the shop or online at https://talkingwines.co.uk/products/ticket-for-wildeberg-tasting

We have made lots of new additions to the range over the last few months and we focus on some of our new small French producers below. We are also delighted to welcome the return of our outstanding Breton cider Le P'tit Fausset which is unique to us in the UK. It has a loyal band of followers and if you haven't tried it yet, now is the perfect time.

You can keep up with our latest wines and events by following us on Instagram @talkingwinesciren and Facebook. You can find all our range of wines at https://talkingwines.co.uk/

We hope to see you soon.

Best wishes

Simon and the Talking Wines Team

Small is Beautiful

One of the great pleasures of Talking Wines is to represent some very small vineyards and promote their wines in the UK. These producers do not have a marketing budget and just rely on the quality of their wines and advocates such as us to promote their wines.

We have for many years represented several small producers from Burgundy and have this month added some new additions. Domaine Philippe Milan is based in Rully, just south of Santenay in the Côte-d'Or. The wines are characterised by great freshness and fruit as well as having depth and we have taken their Chardonnay and Pinot Noir wines.

Jacques Bavard is based in Grande Rue in Puligny-Montrachet. His family had vineyards but Jacques had a first career spent as a restaurant owner in central Paris for 30 years. At the time he sold all his vineyard shares to his other family members so he no longer owns any land. At the turn of 2010 he had enough of his Parisian lifestyle, sold his restaurant and moved back to Puligny and started in his grand father’s winery where he lives today. His Saint-Aubin 1er Cru is a wonderfully elegant white Burgundy.

Domaine Legou is another new property run by Vincent Legou. Vincent’s father was staff at Domaine de la Romanée Conti. This is a small family estate based in Concoeur hamlet a few kilometres beyond Vosne-Romanée. Vincent has 11.5 hectares under vines which are certified organic. His Ladoix Rouge 2022 is a great balance of power and finesse.

From the Loire Valley we are now working with Domaine des Trottieres, based near Anjou. Their Clair de Lune Chenin Blanc is fresh with mineral and orchard fruits. The Bonnezeaux dessert wine is an outstanding wine with an amazing blend of candied fruit and weight. Two superb Chenin Blancs in very different styles from its home in the Loire Valley.

These are just a few of the small producers we represent from all around the world of wine. We are always happy to give you guidance in the shop at any time.
